Ahmedabad. Twelve people, including four children below the age of 12, have died of mysterious fever in Lakhpat taluka of Kutch district in Gujarat. The primary cause of death appears to be pneumonitis, officials said. Medical services have been beefed up in the taluka, located near the Pakistan border. 22 surveillance teams and doctors have been deployed and samples are being collected from residents to rule out the possibility of spread of H1N1, swine flu, Crimean-Congo fever, malaria and dengue. 22 health department teams are working in the affected areas, including teams brought on deputation from two community health centres and rapid response teams of Rajkot PDU Medical College.
