Khartoum. Nearly 20 people were killed and three others were injured in an attack by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on a village in western Sudan. According to the report, the attack took place on a village in North Kordofan state. The RSF attacked the village of al-Dammokia, about 30 kilometers east of el-Obeid, the capital of North Kordofan state, killing 20 and wounding 3 others. The victims also include elderly and children.
RSF has not yet commented on the attack. Before this, RSF launched a major attack on the displaced persons camp in El Fasher in North Darfur state of Western Sudan. At least seven people were killed and 59 others were injured in the attack. According to Ibrahim Khatir, director general of North Darfur’s health ministry, the attack on the Abu Shouk camp lasted for two days. Two people died while five more were killed on Monday.
According to UN data, there are three camps for displaced persons in the city, including Abu Shouk, which houses about 1.5 million people, of whom 800,000 are internally displaced. Since April 15, 2023, Sudan has been locked in a conflict between the SAF and the RSF.
