21st meeting of India-US military cooperation group held in Delhi

New Delhi . The 21st edition of the India-US Military Cooperation Group (MCG) meeting was held from 05 to 6 November 2024 at Manekshaw Centre, New Delhi. The meeting discussed a wide range of topics including capacity building, training exchanges, defense industrial cooperation and progress in joint exercises to strengthen preparedness to counter conventional and other threats.
The meeting was co-chaired by Chief of Integrated Defense Staff Lieutenant General JP Mathew, representing India, and Lieutenant General Joshua M Rood, Deputy Commander, US Indo-Pacific Command, representing the US. Senior officials from both the countries took the occasion to review the ongoing initiatives and explore new areas of cooperation. Both sides emphasized the importance of the India-US defense partnership. Both countries committed to strengthen this strategic relationship through active engagement and enhanced interoperability. They also reaffirmed their commitment to expand the scope of India-US military cooperation against the dynamic challenges facing the Indo-Pacific region. The India-US Military Cooperation Group is a historic forum aimed at promoting defense cooperation and strategic and operational defense cooperation between the armed forces of the two countries.
