25 years later, Pakistani army confessed that it was involved in Kargil war

Islamabad. The Pakistani army has admitted for the first time that it was involved in the Kargil war. Pakistan’s army chief General Asim Munir said in a program that the Pakistani army was involved in the Kargil war. This confession by Pakistan has come after 25 years. In a program organized on Defense Day, Pakistan’s army chief General Asim Munir also admitted the death of Pak army soldiers in Kargil.
However, till now no army chief of Pakistan, be it Lieutenant General Shahid Aziz or former PM Nawaz Sharif, had admitted Pakistan’s involvement in the Kargil war. General Pervez Musharraf, who was the Pak Army Chief during the 1999 Kargil conflict, has himself admitted this many times. General Munir said that the Pakistani community is a community of brave people. Who understands the importance of freedom and how to pay for it. Whether it is 1948, 1965, 1971 or the 1999 Kargil war, thousands of soldiers have given their lives for the country. However, before this, no general of the Pakistani army had given such a statement regarding the Kargil war while in office.
Till now Pakistan had been denying its involvement in the 1999 war and claiming that it was a battle fought by freedom fighters of Kashmir. Former army chief General Pervez Musharraf had claimed that the Kargil operation was a successful local action. In an interview, Musharraf had said that the then PM Nawaz Sharif was not taken into confidence and many decisions taken by the armed forces on the LoC with India did not even require the approval of the army chief. However, Musharraf had acknowledged the role of the 10 Corps FCNA of the Pakistan Army in the entire operation. Musharraf had said that initially there were activities of Mujahideen in this area. Later the FCNA had decided to deploy in the 150-mile empty area of the LoC. There was no need to take approval or permission from anyone for this. It is also a fact that the bodies of many soldiers of the Pakistan Army were not brought back from Kargil. Due to this, their families had questioned the reluctance of the Pakistani government and the army in taking possession of the bodies.
