Khartoum. About 28 civilians were killed and 46 others injured in an attack by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on the capital El Fasher in western Sudan. Acting governor Al-Hafiz Bakhet has given this information. He said, the RSF militia committed massacre by shelling markets and civilian targets. According to the governor, the joint forces of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the armed movement in the Darfur region managed to thwart the attack of the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces and inflicted heavy losses on them.
The governor said the capital, El Fasher, will remain strong and determined and will soon be free from rebels. The RSF has not commented on the attack. Fierce clashes between the SAF and the RSF in Al Fasher have been going on since May 10. Deadly clashes between the SAF and the RSF have been going on in Sudan since April 15, 2023, which has claimed the lives of at least 16,650 people.
