The situation worsened once again in Manipur on Thursday. A mob of about 400 people attacked the SP office in Churachandpur.
These people tried to set the office on fire and also pelted stones. Police said that RAF and other security forces brought the situation under control by firing tear gas shells.
At present the situation is being monitored. It is said that the crowd was enraged due to the suspension of the Kuki head constable posted in Churachandpur.
A video of this constable had surfaced, in which he was with armed Kukis people. Churachandpur SP Shivanand Surve has suspended Head Constable Syamalalpaul with immediate effect till further orders.
Manipur Police in its order said this amounts to extremely serious misconduct by being a member of a disciplined police force.
A departmental inquiry is also being considered against Siyamlalpaul of Churachandpur District Police. Let us tell you that violence started in Manipur on May 3 last year.
