New Delhi . The Ministry of External Affairs has said that 45 Indian citizens illegally sent to the front of the Russia-Ukraine war have been safely rescued and freed from the Russian army. The spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs said that 50 Indian citizens are still present in the war zone and efforts are being made to evacuate them safely. He said that the ministry is continuously working to ensure the release and safe return of these Indian citizens.
During Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to Moscow, Russian President Vladimir Putin had assured that all Indian citizens illegally recruited in Russia will be released after removing them from the war front. After this visit of Prime Minister Modi, the release of Indians illegally recruited in the Russian army has now started.
Russia has admitted that some Indian citizens were misled and recruited into the army and sent to the war zone. After the Indian government’s continuous efforts in this direction, they are now being rescued. The Ministry of External Affairs has also said that all possible efforts are being made to evacuate the Indian citizens who are currently in the war zone as soon as possible. At least four Indians have also been killed in the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
