5 associates of terrorists arrested, terrorist module operating from PoK busted… – NNSP

Jammu and Kashmir Police has busted a terror module operating from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) by arresting five people linked to terrorists in Kupwara district.

Officials gave this information on Saturday. A police officer said, “Kupwara police have busted a terrorist module and recovered a cache of arms and ammunition by arresting five people associated with terrorists in Karnah area of ​​the district.”

Acting on a credible information, the police arrested a suspect who was involved in smuggling of arms and ammunition sent by two PoK-based handlers of Lashkar-e-Taiba.

These handlers have been identified as Manzoor Ahmed Sheikh alias Shakur and Qazi Mohammad Khushal.

Both are residents of Karnah in Kupwara district, while their local operator has been identified as Zahoor Ahmed Bhat, also of Karnah.

One AK-class rifle, two pistols and some ammunition have been recovered from the arrested person.

The official said, “The consignment sent in this direction was delivered to the associates associated with the terrorists, who were also in touch with Zahoor Ahmed Bhat and PoK-based handlers. Based on further leads, four more people were arrested.”

He said that the arrested people have been identified as Khurshid Ahmed Rather, Mudassir Shafiq, Ghulam Sarwar Rather and Qazi Fazal Ilahi, all residents of Karnah.

The officer said five AK-class rifles, five magazines and 16 cartridges were recovered from their possession. He said that the matter is being investigated rapidly to unearth the conspiracy of arms smuggling.
