Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the NRIs at the ‘Modi and US’ program in New York, USA. He said that our Namaste has also become multinational, it has gone from local to global.
He said that we can never forget what Mother India has taught us. Wherever we go, we mingle with everyone considering them as family.
We are residents of a country where there are hundreds of languages, hundreds of dialects and many religions. Despite this, we are moving forward as one. There are people speaking different languages in this hall itself.
PM Modi said, ‘I have always understood your potential, the potential of Indian immigrants. I understood it even when I did not hold any government post and I understand it even today. For me, all of you have been strong brand ambassadors of India. That is why I call you ‘Rashtradoot’.
He said that there are many languages but the feeling is one, that feeling is- ‘Indianness’… This is our biggest strength to connect with the world. This value naturally makes us world brothers. Narendra Modi said, ‘We find happiness by doing good to others, by making sacrifices, this feeling does not change no matter which country we live in.
We contribute as much as possible to the society in which we live.’ He said that for the world AI means Artificial Intelligence. But I believe that AI means American-Indian. This is the spirit and this is the AI power of the world. This AI spirit is taking India-US relations to new heights.
‘The year 2024 is very important for the world’
The Prime Minister said that just yesterday President Joe Biden took me to his home, his warmth, his intimacy… was a heart-touching moment for me. This honour belongs to 140 crore Indians, this honour belongs to you and your efforts. He said, ‘This year 2024 is very important for the whole world.
On one hand, there is conflict and tension between many countries of the world, while on the other hand, democracy is being celebrated in many countries. India and America are also together in the celebration of democracy.
Addressing the Indian community, PM Modi said, ‘You will remember a word ‘Pushp’, I define it in this way – ‘P’ for progressive India, U for invincible India, S for spiritual India, H for India dedicated to humanity first and P for prosperous India. We will create a developed India only by combining all the five petals of the flower.’
Narendra Modi said that this time’s election in India was the biggest election in human history. The people of India have given this new mandate. It has a lot of meaning and is very big too.
We have to achieve very big goals in this third term. We have to move ahead with three times the strength and three times the speed. He said, ‘In the freedom movement, crores of Indians spent their lives for Swaraj. They did not look after their own interests. They forgot everything and went to fight the British for the freedom of the country. In that journey, some were hanged, some were shot dead, some died in jail while suffering torture.
We could not die for the country but we can certainly live for the country.’ He said that today India is one of the youngest countries in the world. India is full of energy, full of dreams, achieving new heights every day. Today itself we have received another very good news, India has won gold medals in the men’s and women’s chess Olympiad.
‘India will soon become the third largest economy’
The Prime Minister said, ‘In a decade, India has become the 5th largest economy from the 10th largest. Now every Indian wants that India should soon become the third largest economy. India today is a land of opportunities.’ Modi said that there was a time when we were mobile importers, today we have become mobile exporters.
Now India does not lag behind, now India creates new systems, now India leads. He said, ‘In June last year, India had announced incentives for the semi-conductor sector. Just a few months after this, the foundation stone of Micron’s first semi-conductor unit has also been laid.
So far, 5 such units have been approved in India. The day is not far when you will see Made in India chips here in America as well. This small chip will take the flight of developed India to new heights and this is Modi’s guarantee.
PM Modi said that today India’s 5G market is bigger than America. This has happened within 2 years. Now India is working on Made-in-India 6G. He said, ‘In 2014, only 5 cities in India had metro, today 23 cities have metro. Today the world’s second largest metro network is in India and it is expanding every day. In 2014, less than 100 gram panchayats had broadband connectivity.
Today, more than 2 lakh panchayats have broadband connectivity. The work that used to take years earlier is now being done in months.’ The Prime Minister said that in the last 10 years, one university has been built every week in India. Two new colleges have been built every day. A new ITI has been established every day. The number of medical colleges has also almost doubled in 10 years. Till now the world has seen the power of Indian designers, now the world will see the magic of Design in India.
Narendra Modi said, ‘Today our partnership is growing with the whole world. Earlier India followed the policy of equidistance. Now India is following the policy of equidistance. We are also a strong voice of the Global South. Today when India says something on the global platform, the world listens.
Some time ago when I said that this is not the era of war, everyone understood its seriousness.’ Artists from the Indian community performed Kathak dance before Prime Minister Modi’s ‘Modi and US’ programme.
