7 dead as rocks fall on house due to Cyclone Fangal, relief and rescue operations underway

Cyclone Fangal has wreaked havoc in Tamil Nadu, it is raining continuously. Incessant rains led to a landslide in Tiruvannamalai, Tamil Nadu, due to which a rock fell on a house. 7 people including 5 children died due to rock fall. Of these, 4 bodies have been recovered and sent to the hospital.

Rescue operation is going on at the incident site. NDRF and Army have also been deployed in the rescue operation. Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin also expressed condolences to the people killed in the landslide. He announced an amount of Rs 5 lakh for the bereaved family.

CM Stalin appealed to PM Modi
Let us inform that Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin also visited the state and said that Cyclone Fengal has caused “unprecedented” devastation in the state and urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to immediately release interim relief of Rs 2,000 crore from the NDRF. He said the amount would help the administration restore damaged infrastructure.

Warning regarding rain in many states including Kerala
A high alert has been issued in the area with possible damage regarding Cyclone Fangal. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday issued a warning of significant rainfall in Kerala due to Cyclone Fangal, which is currently over the low pressure area over North Interior Tamil Nadu. It has weakened and spread to South Interior Karnataka.

Meteorologists expect the system to move further and develop further, potentially emerging over the southeast and east-central Arabian Sea near the northern coasts of Kerala and Karnataka around December 3.
