The new variant of Corona has again increased the concern. Alert has been issued in Chhattisgarh regarding JN.1 variant.

According to the guidelines issued by the Health Department, now Covid testing will be increased in all the districts. Also, samples will be sent to Raipur AIIMS, where it will be seen whether the new variant of Covid is spreading anywhere in the state.

Additional Chief Secretary of Health Department, Renu G Pillay has issued orders to all the collectors of Chhattisgarh. It is written in the government order that at present the situation of Corona is under control in Chhattisgarh.

Cases of new variants have been reported in Kerala, due to which the scope of investigation will be increased in Chhattisgarh.

Health department issued guidelines

The order has been issued by the Health Department to all the collectors. In which it is said that Covid-19 infection is under control but it is important to keep an eye on its constantly changing variants.

Corona cases have increased in some states of the country including Kerala. Although the new variant has not been identified in Chhattisgarh, there is a need to exercise caution at the district level. Guidelines have also been issued for this.

  • In view of the New Year and festivals, the availability of medicines in all district hospitals and community health centers should be checked to prevent Covid infection.
  • Mock drills should be conducted to deal with Corona related cases. All equipment should be checked.
  • Adequate number of Covid tests should be done in every district. At least 100 tests should be conducted every day. If possible, all should be done by RT-PCR method.
  • If found Covid positive, its samples should be sent to Raipur AIIMS for genome sequencing test. So that new variants can be identified.

Where did the new variant come from in India?

According to ICMR Director General Dr. Rajeev Bahl, this case came to light on December 8 in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.

When the report of a 79 year old woman came positive. The woman had mild symptoms of influenza-like illness and however later recovered from Covid-19.
