A terrorist attack has been reported at the residence of former Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Saqib Nisar in Lahore.
According to Pakistani newspaper Dawn, the house of the former Chief Justice was attacked with a grenade in the garage. Two policemen were injured after being hit by this blast.
According to Pak media channels, CJP’s car was badly damaged by the blast. However, Nisar and his family narrowly escaped the attack.
Police officials have expressed suspicion of terrorist attack or foreign conspiracy in the preliminary investigation. Let us tell you that as Chief Justice Nisar had disqualified former PM Nawaz Sharif in 2017.
The incident of grenade attack on Saqib Nisar’s house has given sleepless nights to the Punjab Police. In a statement, the police spokesperson said provincial police chief Usman Anwar has taken cognizance of the incident and has sought a report from the Lahore police officer.
He also directed that the injured policemen would be given best treatment. Punjab Police said, “The family members of the former CJP are completely safe.
The IG has directed to investigate the incident from all aspects and senior police officers are present at the spot.
The statement also said that constables Aamir and Khurram suffered minor injuries. Provincial emergency services spokesman Farooq Ahmed said in a statement that a rescue team was immediately dispatched to the scene and the injured were treated.
Suspicion of terrorist attack or foreign conspiracy
Punjab Police spokesperson has said, “As per preliminary investigation, this is a malicious attempt by our enemies to spread fear and terror in the country.”
According to Dawn, the possibility of a foreign conspiracy behind this attack cannot be ruled out. There was no loss of life or property in the incident and evidence was being examined, adding that the culprits would be traced soon.
Sharif was disqualified
According to Dawn, Justice Nisar was appointed judge of the apex court on February 18, 2010. Earlier, he was a judge of Lahore High Court. In the year 2017, he had disqualified Nawaz Sharif for the post of PM.
