Union Minister Smriti Irani has accused the Gandhi family of cheating the farmers of Amethi and grabbing their land in the name of industrialization.
Irani, the BJP MP from Amethi, which was the stronghold of the Gandhi family and the Congress before 2019, said that the Gandhi family has grabbed 30 acres of land from farmers at a rent of just Rs 600 by showing the dream of industrialization there. Irani said these things in a podcast to ANI’s Smita Prakash.
Irani said, “It took me a while to tell people this but trust me. In reality, people’s land in Amethi was being grabbed by the Gandhi family.
I have said this in Parliament also. 30 acres of land has been taken on rent for Rs 600. The Gandhi family has built a nice, beautiful complex for themselves there.
Irani said, “It was a foreign idea that the heads of a foundation – Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Vadra – have the majority to grab the land of farmers in Amethi. They have taken land there in the name of industrialization.”
A few months before the Lok Sabha elections, the Union Women and Child Development Minister alleged that a plot, which was to be used for minority girl students, was also grabbed by the Gandhi family for an office. “The girls who went against the Gandhi family and staged a sit-in against them were put in jail,” Irani claimed.
Let us tell you that in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Smriti Irani had lost to Rahul Gandhi in Amethi, but in 2019, she won this parliamentary seat, which was the stronghold of the Gandhi family. The 47-year-old Irani is the youngest minister in the Narendra Modi cabinet.
During the podcast, Smriti Irani also threw light on her early life and how she won the Tata Scholarship. The BJP leader said that she was fed up with the allegation that whatever she was, was because of her father’s kindness. Therefore, she moved from Delhi to Mumbai to create her own identity. The Union Minister said, “I wanted to become something only on the basis of my ability.”
Irani shared, “There was a lot of discord in our family because my parents were from different political ideologies. “I saw firsthand what politics can do to a family.” He told that his father was a Congressman, while his mother was a Sanghi, who used to visit the Sangh branches and the office of Vishwa Hindu Parishad in Delhi.
