It is extremely cold these days in many parts of the country. Other areas including Delhi-NCR, Haryana, Punjab and UP are in the grip of dense fog.
The fog has increased further since Thursday due to which visibility has reduced considerably. In such a situation, people are facing problems in traffic and many trains and airplanes are also facing delays.
India Meteorological Department (IMD) says that dense fog is going to persist till December 30. Severe cold will continue in many other areas including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh. In such a situation, an appeal has been made to the people to take measures to prevent cold.
In the bulletin issued by IMD, it was said that there may be some relief from fog on the last day of the year i.e. 31st December.
However, the fog is not going to disappear completely during this period. According to the report, even on New Year (January 1, 2024), many parts of the country will remain under the grip of dense fog.
Besides, cold will also retain its effect. Therefore, people have been advised to keep this in mind while celebrating New Year.
Let us tell you that amidst the icy cold, schools are closed in Gautam Buddh Nagar district of UP (including Noida and Greater Noida). The district administration has ordered schools to be closed for students on December 29 and 30. However, teachers and other staff will continue to work.
Keep fog lights on while driving
The Meteorological Department has issued an advisory for dense fog and asked drivers to use fog lights. Also, passengers have been asked to stay updated about the latest list of aviation, railways and state transport.
According to IMD, exercise caution while driving or using any means of transport. Rail services were also affected due to low visibility and 22 Delhi bound trains were delayed on Thursday.
According to reports, 11 trains are running late today due to dense fog in North India. It is believed that more updates can be issued by the Railways regarding this.
Chances of rain between December 31 and January 2
There is good news for the travelers visiting Jammu-Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. The weather department’s forecast says that there will be snowfall in all three states on December 30-31. Due to the fresh western pressure, light rain may also occur here.
Not only this, there are chances of rain in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Chandigarh also on December 31. Due to the pressure of winds in the Bay of Bengal, this series of rains may continue till January 2.
Apart from this, many parts of Tamil Nadu and Kerala are also going to receive heavy rains between December 31 and January 2. In this way the rain is going to spoil the New Year celebrations.
