There are reports of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s nephew Abhishek Banerjee being angry with the party leadership.
According to the report, he believes that the movement he had started against the Center to recover the dues has been derailed.
Before Durga Puja, Abhishek Banerjee had taken to the streets to fan this movement. The plan was that after the puja the movement would be expanded further. However this did not happen. The movement has practically bitten into dust.
After Durga Puja, Abhishek Banerjee had announced to intensify the movement to recover the dues from the Centre, but the leaders did not take the movement forward at the grassroots level.
They did not find any program for this. Various reports have claimed that Abhishek Banerjee is angry with this action of a group of party leaders.
The report, quoting Trinamool Congress sources, has claimed that Abhishek Banerjee wants to limit himself to his constituency in the Lok Sabha elections. He is not ready to worry about the remaining 41 seats in Bengal.
According to the report, Abhishek Banerjee had organized this movement by going to Delhi. Even after returning to Kolkata, he created a stir for this. It is being said that Abhishek Banerjee is unhappy with the leadership.
It is being claimed that Abhishek was planning to go to Delhi again in November to protest. He had also planned that if the Center did not accept the demand, he would travel from village to village after returning to Bengal.
Instead, on December 20, Trinamool Congress MPs led by Mamata Banerjee met Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Abhishek was also with him at that time.
Meanwhile, reports claim that Abhishek is angry not only with the party leaders but also with the functioning of the state administration. It is noteworthy that he had gone there and announced that Dhupguri should be sub-divided.
He said that Dhupaguri will be sub-divided this year. But the year ended, Abhishek’s promise was not fulfilled. It is alleged that Dhupguri subdivision could not be done due to the laxity of the administration.
Amidst all this, Kunal Ghosh, Partha Bhowmik, Narayan Goswami, Bratya Basu and Tapas Rai held a meeting with Abhishek Banerjee at Kalighat office on Saturday.
It is known that in that meeting, Abhishek Banerjee was requested to take charge of the party again. But there Abhishek said that he will remain in Diamond Harbor for the Lok Sabha elections.
