Will Maldives break the process of talks with India? Mohammad Muizzu preparing to go to China first…

Maldivian President Mohammed Muizzu, who is known to be pro-China, is preparing to break the years-old tradition of visiting India for the first time.

There is news that he may visit China soon. However, nothing has been said officially regarding this.

The special thing is that if this happens, it will be the first time that the democratically elected President of Maldives will visit China before India.

Since 2008, all the Presidents of Maldives have been visiting India first. These include the names of leaders considered anti-India, Mohammad Wahid and Abdullah Yameen.

According to a report, sources say that talks are going on between China and Maldives regarding bilateral visits. The special thing is that before India and China, Muizzu had visited Turkey.

Now Muizzu’s first visit to Turkey is also being seen as a signal. It is being said that through this the President of Maldives is trying to show that his country is not dependent on India or China. There are also reports that China has sent an invitation to Muizzu. At the same time, it is not clear yet whether the invitation has been sent from India or not.

Discussions about Muizzu’s visit to China have come at a time when he is continuously pushing for the withdrawal of Indian troops from Maldives.

After meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi at COP28, Muizzu had said that India has agreed to withdraw the troops.

Recently another announcement has been made by Maldives that it is ending the agreement with India, under which the Indian Navy was allowed to conduct hydrographic survey in the waters of Maldives.

Earlier, the then President of Maldives Yameen had gone to China. The special thing is that during that time a secret agreement was signed between the two countries. Also, a deal was made in which China was allowed to build an observatory.
