While the consecration ceremony of Ram Lalla, which is going to be held in Ayodhya on January 22, is creating an atmosphere of devotion in the country, on the other hand, the situation seems to be becoming uncomfortable due to the statements of Congress leaders.
After Karnataka MLC BK Hariprasad, now state Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s son Yatindra Siddaramaiah has increased the controversy by making anti-Hindutva remarks.
Former MLA Yatindra has said that if India becomes a “Hindu nation”, it will become like Afghanistan and Pakistan ruled by dictatorships. He said that both the countries have become bankrupt due to dictatorship in the name of religion.
Yatindra said, “Dictatorship in the name of religion has bankrupted Pakistan and Afghanistan. The allies of BJP are going to make India a Hindu country. If this is allowed then our country will also become Pakistan and Afghanistan.”
The Congress leader blamed the RSS and the BJP for attempting to make India a ‘Hindu Rashtra’, and asked people to be wary of parties making religion a political issue.
He said, “…if the country abandons secularism and goes after religion, it will not develop. Today, secular philosophy is under threat…We must be wary of parties politicizing religion…”
Let us tell you that this comment of Yatindra has come at a time when the main opposition party in the state, BJP, is creating ruckus over the arrest of a Hindu activist.
Karnataka Police recently arrested 51-year-old Shrikant Pujari from Hubli district in a 31-year-old riot case.
Pujari was a kar sevak, whose name was registered as an accused in setting fire to the shop of a Muslim named Malik in Hubli in the communal violence that broke out in December 1992 during the Ram Mandir movement.
On the other hand, BK Hariprasad had said that an accident like the Godhra train of 2002 could happen during the consecration ceremony of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya, hence the state government should remain alert.
He said, “Similar situation (like Godhra) can arise here also. Therefore, there should be no scope for any untoward incident to happen in Karnataka.
“All arrangements should be made for people wishing to go to Ayodhya so that we do not have to see another Godhra happening in Karnataka,” the former Rajya Sabha MP said. BJP alleges that Congress is scared of Hindutva wave and is spewing venom against Hindutva.
