Defense Minister Rajnath Singh raised the issue of the article published about India in the Chinese newspaper Global Times in London.

On Wednesday he said that Beijing has also accepted India as a major global economic player and strategic power.

He also said that now no one can get away with looking at India. Singh also met British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.

Singh said, ‘This article confirms China’s changing view of India.

It seems that the Chinese government has begun to recognize that our economic and foreign policy, as well as our changing strategic interests, have helped India emerge as a major economic player and strategic power.

Singh has also cited the courage of Indian soldiers in Galwan Valley as the reason for China’s changing attitude. He emphasized that India is no longer seen as a weak country but as a rising power. He said, ‘Now it is not the case that India can wink and do whatever it wants.’

Regarding the relations between India and China, he said, ‘We do not see anyone as our enemy, but the world knows that at present the relations between India and China are tense. However, we want to have good relations with all our neighbors and all the countries of the world.

What in the article?
Actually, Zhang Jiadong, director of the Center for South Asian Studies of Fudan University, had written the article ‘India Narrative’. In this he discussed the changes in India’s domestic and foreign situation in the last four years.

According to PIB, the article states that there has been another shift in India’s strategic thinking in foreign policy and it is clearly moving towards a great power strategy.

Professor Zhang says, ‘Since the Prime Minister Narendra Modi Since assuming power, he has advocated a multi-alignment strategy to boost India’s relations with the US, Japan, Russia and other countries and regional organisations.’
