Police encounter in Kannauj, criminal wanted for robbery and murder killed, another shot…

A criminal wanted in a sensational robbery and murder case was killed while his associate was injured in retaliatory firing during a morning police encounter near Gurusahayganj police station in UP’s Kannauj.

This was confirmed by UP Police Director General (DG) Prashant Kumar in Lucknow. He said that the two were involved in the robbery of jewelery and cash worth Rs 50 lakh from a jewelery shop after the murder of a salesman in Gurusahayganj market on January 5.

He said that along with gold and silver jewellery, cash worth Rs 20 lakh was also looted. Was recovered from them.

The DG said that the deceased has been identified as Izhaar while the injured accused has been identified as Talib.

He told that when both of them tried to run away during vehicle checking, the police team asked them to stop and opened fire, in which two constables Aman Singh and Vinay Kumar were injured.

Both the accused were injured in police retaliatory firing and one of them died before reaching the hospital while the other is undergoing treatment in a government hospital.

He said that about 250 grams of gold, 500 grams of silver as well as Rs 4.30 lakh in cash were recovered from them. He said that the injured accused told that they had sold the remaining amount to a jeweler after which further raids are on.

The two attackers shot dead Mohammad Ayaz (32), who ran a jewelery shop in Kannauj, when he was returning home after closing his shop late in the evening of January 5 and looted gold and silver jewelery worth about Rs 35 lakh.

On January 8, his fiancee Sana Khan (26) committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling of the room. She was in depression after Ayaz’s murder. Their marriage was to take place in February this year.
