External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has emphasized the importance of India for the world. He has said that the world’s attitude towards India is changing, no major global issue is decided without consultation with India.
The Foreign Minister said that India’s consent is very important for global issues. Addressing an event in Nagpur on Saturday, Jaishankar said, “No major issue in the world is decided without consultation with India. We have changed and the world’s perception of us has changed.”
The External Affairs Minister said that we are independent, we need to learn how to serve our interests by dealing with different people.
Jaishankar also talked about diplomatic relations between India and China and said that the solution to the border issue cannot be improved unless both sides show readiness for it.
bluntly to China
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said, “I have explained to my Chinese counterpart that until and unless you find a solution to the border dispute, the armies will remain face to face there. Until then you cannot expect the rest of the relationship to go on as normal. this is impossible.”
The External Affairs Minister said that both the countries are working on normalizing relations and sometimes, diplomatic impasses take time to be resolved.
I have told you honestly before too.
Foreign Minister S Jaishankar has reiterated this point earlier also. Last year, on the occasion of completion of nine years of the Narendra Modi government at the Centre, Jaishankar said, “India also wants to improve relations with China but this is possible only when there is peace and tranquility in the border areas.”
He made it completely clear to China that unless there is peace and tranquility in the border areas, relations between the two countries cannot progress. Citing the situation on the northern border and the country’s stand against China’s ‘Belt and Road’ initiative, Jaishankar said that India is not influenced by any pressure, greed and wrong discourse.
Let us tell you that the ‘Belt and Road’ initiative is a plan sponsored by China in which there is a plan to develop infrastructure in the countries of Asia, Africa and Europe on the basis of the old Silk Road.
There has been tension between India and China in some areas of conflict in eastern Ladakh for more than three years. However, after several rounds of military and diplomatic talks between the two countries, both sides have retreated from some areas.
The Foreign Minister said that both sides will have to find ways to withdraw their troops and the current standoff is not in China’s interest either.
In response to questions in this regard, Jaishankar said, “The reality is that relations have been affected and will continue to be affected…. If someone has such an expectation that despite the situation on the border not being normal, we will somehow normalize (relations), then this is not a reasonable expectation.”
Asked whether China had occupied Indian territory after the May 2020 border dispute, Jaishankar said the problem was the deployment of troops on the front.
