A judge of Patna High Court has reached the Supreme Court regarding the salary problem.
He has appealed to the Supreme Court to open GPF i.e. General Provident Fund account and release the salary. The judge claims that he is not getting his salary since his promotion.
At present, the Apex Court has agreed to hear the case.
what was the matter
Justice Rudra Prakash Mishra says that till now he has not received the GPF account after his promotion from Higher Judicial Services to the High Court in November 2023.
He told the court that all the necessary documents have been submitted.
Justice Mishra has also said that the result of not getting GPF benefits was that he has not received his salary since his promotion. Due to this he is facing mental and financial problems.
Justice Mishra has sought a declaration from the Supreme Court through the petition that he is also entitled to a GPF account under the High Court Judges (Salaries and Conditions of service) Act, 1954.
Here, lawyer Prem Prakash, who reached the court on behalf of Justice Mishra, had demanded interim relief from the Supreme Court.
Now what happened in the Supreme Court
Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud, Justice JP Pardiwala and Justice Manoj Mishra have issued notices to the Center and Bihar government.
Apart from this, reply has also been sought from the Registrar General of Patna High Court. At present, the court has not issued any order, but it has said that it will be heard on January 29.
