Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Sunday stressed that the Ayodhya movement was not just for a temple but an awareness campaign to ensure ‘justice to all’ without appeasing anyone and said the history of Hindutva is ‘our ‘This is the history of the country.
The senior BJP leader was addressing people at a book release function in Nagpur.
Gadkari said that the ‘Rath Yatra’ of veteran BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani brought the issue of Ram temple in Ayodhya to the forefront in the country.
The Union Minister said that Ashok Singhal of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), senior BJP leader Uma Bharti, Sadhvi Ritambhara and many sadhus and Shankaracharyas fought for this. Gadkari said the Ram Janmabhoomi movement was not just about a temple.
He said, “These efforts were to bring back glory and respect to India’s history, culture and heritage.”
Gadkari said that the presence of Ram temple where Lord Ram was born is a symbol of pride and self-respect for all the people living in the country.
“Therefore, this issue is not communal or caste-related,” he said. It is ‘national’.”

“People are now happy that a grand temple is being constructed at the birthplace of Lord Ram and “we all will get the opportunity to have darshan on January 22,” he said.

The Union Minister said, “The word ‘secular’ was misinterpreted in the past for political gains… But our society is genetically ‘secular’. “Secularism means equality of all religions.”
