The Bar Council of India has written a letter to Supreme Court Chief Justice DY Chandrachud seeking leave for the inauguration of Ram Temple on January 22.

Bar Council of India (BCI) Chairman Manan Kumar Mishra wrote to the CJI, “Recognizing the cultural recognition and national importance of the inauguration of Ram Temple, on the occasion of the consecration of Ram Lalla on 22 January 2024, the Supreme Court, High Courts, District Courts etc. May I be granted leave.”

Senior Supreme Court advocate Manan Kumar Mishra said, “This holiday is for the lawyers and court staff to attend or visit related events in Ayodhya and across the country.”

He further said in the letter that the matter for urgent hearing can be accommodated by special arrangement or rescheduled to the next working day.

“I request you to consider this request and take appropriate steps to celebrate this historic occasion in accordance with the sentiments of the people,” he said in the letter to the CJI.

It is noteworthy that preparations for the consecration program of Ram Lalla are in full swing in Ayodhya.

More than 7,000 people, including politicians, saints and celebrities from across the country, are expected to attend the grand opening of the historic event. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be the chief guest.
