The International Court of Justice (ICJ), while giving its verdict regarding Israel’s attack in Gaza, has ordered to stop the genocide.
The court has given this order on the petition of South Africa. However, this is also being considered a shock for South Africa.
ICJ has not given any order regarding ceasefire whereas South Africa had only demanded ceasefire. The International Court did not agree in this case. This is going to disappoint the Palestinians too.
What did ICJ say in the decision
The ICJ asked Israel to stop the massacre of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and to provide full details of the deaths so far in the attack.
The court said that Israel should ensure that its army does not commit genocide in Gaza and should adopt reformist methods considering the humanitarian situation. ICJ has asked Israel to submit the report within a month.
Let us tell you that South Africa had approached the International Court regarding the massacre in Gaza Strip. After this he also got the support of Colombia and Brazil. In this petition it was said that Israel is violating its duties under the Geneva Convention.
What he is doing is wrong under the Geneva Convention. After this, Colombia’s Foreign Ministry also said that South Africa’s lawsuit is a courageous step. Brazilian President Luiz Inácilo Lula da Silva also said Israel was violating international laws.
17 judges were hearing this case in ICJ. Most of them said that Irzal should make such efforts so that the Palestinian people do not suffer physical and mental harm.
However, please note that this is not the final decision of the ICJ. If we talk about implementing the orders of ICJ, there is no system that can get it implemented. In such a situation, many times the decision of the International Court remains only on paper.
