Once again there are sounds of change of power in Bihar.
If this happens, Nitish Kumar will take oath as Chief Minister for the ninth time. The RJD-JDU alliance of Bihar is on the verge of breaking.
There is speculation that JDU will again join NDA under the leadership of Nitish Kumar. On one hand, this will be a big good news for BJP before the general elections, while on the other hand, with this decision, the INDIA alliance will appear completely disintegrated.
The love and hate story between Nitish Kumar and BJP has been going on for the last 10 years. Even though Bihar assembly elections have been held only five times in 23 years, Nitish Kumar has taken oath as CM 8 times.
Nitish-BJP’s love-hate story is strange
Nitish Kumar has surprised his colleagues many times. Even BJP could never know his thoughts. Nitish Kumar is a leader who has worked with many generations of BJP.
He has worked in the BJP of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Lal Krishna Advani and Modi-Shah. In the year 2000, he became the Chief Minister of Bihar for the first time. He has also handled responsibilities at the Center in the Vajpayee government.
In the year 2000, Nitish Kumar took oath as the CM of Bihar with the support of BJP. At that time NDA had 151 MLAs while RJD had 159 MLAs.
Nitish Kumar took oath as CM but within seven days he had to resign. After this, in the 2005 assembly elections, while still in the NDA, he became the Chief Minister for the second time with the support of the BJP.
RJD suffered a major setback in the 2010 assembly elections. NDA got 206 seats which was 85 percent seats. Whereas RJD was reduced to 22 seats.
This time 141 JDU candidates had contested, out of which 115 won. In 2010, Nitish Kumar became the CM and Sushil Modi of BJP became the Deputy Chief Minister.
Left BJP in 2014
Nitish continued with BJP for 14 years but when the Prime Minister became its face Narendra Modi When it was projected, a rift was created.
It was also discussed that Nitish also considered himself a contender for the post of PM. Now he said that the time of Atal-Advani in BJP is over, hence he will not be able to keep pace with the new people. He had even said that whether he stays or not, he will not join hands with BJP.
BJP had a landslide victory in 2014. However, his party’s performance in Bihar was not good. After this, Nitish Kumar resigned citing moral responsibility.
Jitan Ram Manjhi became the Chief Minister. After this, in the 2015 elections, he strongly opposed the BJP and became a part of the Grand Alliance in Bihar.
Nitish fought this election in alliance with RJD and Congress. After the election he became the Chief Minister and Tejashwi Yadav became the Deputy Chief Minister. When Tejashwi was accused of corruption, Natish got a chance to change sides again. He resigned from his post. After this, he took oath along with NDA.
In the 2020 assembly elections, Nitish again contested the elections with BJP but RJD suffered a loss in this election. Nitish was not able to digest this.
He took oath as the Chief Minister but resigned once again a few days later in 2022. He left BJP and again joined RJD and became the Chief Minister. Now once again there is speculation that Nitish Kumar may leave RJD.
