Bijapur Police received intelligence information about the presence of armed Maoists in the training camp on 06 February 2019. The next day the police team proceeded towards the incident site and during this time 80-100 armed Maoists opened fire on the police personnel.
In this encounter that lasted for about 90 minutes, the courageous retaliatory action taken by the police personnel forced the Naxalites to retreat. 10 Naxalites were killed in the incident and a large quantity of explosive materials were recovered. As soon as information about this incident was received, the then Bijapur Superintendent of Police Mohit Garg prepared his team and proceeded towards the incident site for the safe return of the injured comrades. Superintendent of Police Garg himself moved forward leading the team and during this, 40 to 50 Naxalites sitting in ambush two kilometers away from the Indravati River started firing indiscriminately at the police. Without caring for his life, Garg immediately moved his team forward and attacked the Naxalites in an ambush. Garg made strategic operation plans and cleverly fought the Naxalites.
For this indomitable courage and bravery, Superintendent of Police Mohit Garg (B.P.S.) along with Sub Inspector Pilluram Mandavi, Assistant Sub Inspector Jogiram Podiam, Head Constable Hidma Podiam, Head Constable Pramod Kudiam, Head Constable Balram Kashyap, Constable Bijuram Majji, constable Budhram Hapka, constable Lakshminarayan Marpalli, constable Mangalu Kudiyam were decorated with police ‘gallantry medal’. Late Budhram Hapka’s award was received by his wife.

Operation Rimjhim-1 was launched by the district police team on receiving information regarding the presence of 8-10 members of Dareksa Area Committee on 02 August 2019 in Rajnandgaon district. During the operation in Kala Pahad under Bagh River police station, when the police party was moving forward, the Naxalites sitting in ambush started indiscriminate firing with the intention of killing the police personnel and looting weapons.
During this, the operation was courageously led by Inspector Laxman Kenwat and he fearlessly carried out cover fire and destroyed the IED laid with the intention of trapping the police party. Escaped from. The firing continued for about two and a half hours. During the search of the incident site, bodies of 5 female Maoists and 02 male Maoists along with a large quantity of weapons, explosive materials and Naxalite literature etc. were recovered. During the entire operation, Inspector Laxman Kevat gave a unique example of bravery, efficiency and excellent leadership skills, resulting in the killing of the most wanted, dreaded Naxalites. For this indomitable courage and bravery, Inspector Laxman Kevat was decorated with ‘Police Bravery Medal’.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Sherbahadur Singh Thakur and constable Chhatrapal Sahu were honored with Police Gallantry Medal on the occasion of Republic Day today.
Police personnel while on duty in Bijapur district conducted a search operation after receiving intelligence input. During the search, the Naxalites in casual civil dress suddenly started firing on the police team that reached Ketulnar forest.
SDOP Sherbahadur Singh Thakur and his team swiftly took charge of the situation and retaliated in self-defence. After 10 minutes of firing, the Naxalites fled towards the forest. During the search of the incident site, a huge quantity of ammunition along with the dead body of a Maoist was recovered.
Similarly, in the Naxalite incident that took place on 27 April 2018 in Bijapur district, Sub Inspector Suresh Javva, Head Constable Sushil Jetthi, Head Constable Baddi Dharmaiya, Constable Manglu Kovasi, Constable Mukesh Kalmu, Constable Ramesh Pere were decorated with gallantry awards for indomitable courage and bravery.
