As soon as information about this incident was received, the then Bijapur Superintendent of Police Mohit Garg prepared his team and proceeded towards the incident site for the safe return of the injured comrades. Superintendent of Police Garg himself moved forward leading the team and during this, 40 to 50 Naxalites sitting in ambush two kilometers away from the Indravati River started firing indiscriminately at the police. Without caring for his life, Garg immediately moved his team forward and attacked the Naxalites in an ambush. Garg made strategic operation plans and cleverly fought the Naxalites.

For this indomitable courage and bravery, Superintendent of Police Mohit Garg (B.P.S.) along with Sub Inspector Pilluram Mandavi, Assistant Sub Inspector Jogiram Podiam, Head Constable Hidma Podiam, Head Constable Pramod Kudiam, Head Constable Balram Kashyap, Constable Bijuram Majji, constable Budhram Hapka, constable Lakshminarayan Marpalli, constable Mangalu Kudiyam were decorated with police ‘gallantry medal’. During the search of the incident site, bodies of 5 female Maoists and 02 male Maoists along with a large quantity of weapons, explosive materials and Naxalite literature etc. were recovered. During the entire operation, Inspector Laxman Kevat gave a unique example of bravery, efficiency and excellent leadership skills, resulting in the killing of the most wanted, dreaded Naxalites. For this indomitable courage and bravery, Inspector Laxman Kevat was decorated with ‘Police Bravery Medal’.

During the search of the incident site, a huge quantity of ammunition along with the dead body of a Maoist was recovered.

Similarly, in the Naxalite incident that took place on 27 April 2018 in Bijapur district, Sub Inspector Suresh Javva, Head Constable Sushil Jetthi, Head Constable Baddi Dharmaiya, Constable Manglu Kovasi, Constable Mukesh Kalmu, Constable Ramesh Pere were decorated with gallantry awards for indomitable courage and bravery.
