Violence flares up again in Manipur, two dead in firing, 5 injured including BJP leader…

Once again a case of outbreak of violence has come to light in the eastern state of Manipur.

In the latest violence here on Tuesday, there was firing between two groups. Two people have died in arson and firing. Apart from this, five people including a BJP youth leader have been injured in the violence.

Police sources say that the death toll may increase. Violence has been raging in the state since May 3 last year.

The sequence of violence in Manipur continued on Tuesday also. Two people were killed and at least five, including a top BJP youth leader from the state, were injured in fresh firing between the two groups.

Police sources said the firing took place in Kautruk village in Imphal West district and the death toll was likely to rise. At least one person is also reported missing.

In this violence, former president of BJP’s youth wing Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, Manoharmayum Barish Sharma was injured in the firing and has been taken to the hospital.

Where did the latest violence happen?
Sources said the firing took place between villagers of the two communities on the border of Imphal West and Kangpokpi districts.

There are also reports of people fleeing for their lives from Kadangband, Kautruk and Kangchup villages of Imphal Valley after the latest violence.

Tuesday’s incident comes just two days after a villager was killed in a shootout between two armed groups in an area between Imphal and Kangpokpi district.

It is noteworthy that in the violence that started on May 3 last year in Manipur, more than 180 people have lost their lives and more than 3000 have been injured.

Thousands of people have also been displaced due to this violence. The violence has continued for more than eight months despite the deployment of at least 60,000 central security forces in the state.
