When did PM Modi’s caste come in the OBC list, know the reality on Rahul Gandhi’s statement…

During the ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay’ yatra, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi claimed that PM Narendra Modi is not an OBC by birth.

Rahul said that Narendra Modi was born in the Teli caste, which was included in the OBC category in 2000 during the tenure of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Gujarat.

Let us know when the caste of PM Modi, who comes from Modh Ghanchi caste, was notified under OBC.

According to the government gazette, Narendra Modi’s caste was notified as OBC by the Central Government on October 27, 1999.

Earlier, the Congress-led Gujarat government had notified Ghanchi as an OBC in July 1994.

After this, the Central Government, following the recommendations of the Gujarat Government, notified it as OBC on 27 October 1999.

Let us tell you that people of Modh-Ghanchi community are found in Gujarat, Rajasthan etc. The Government Gazette dated October 27, 1999 was issued by the then Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.

It is written that the National Commission for Backward Classes has issued notification to other backward classes belonging to Andhra Pradesh, Chandigarh, Delhi, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Tripura, UP and West Bengal. Names of castes/communities (including sub-castes/variants) are recommended for inclusion/amendment in the Central List.

The Government has accepted the recommendation of the Commission and decided to notify. These amendments will be effective from the date of issue of this resolution.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was not born in a family belonging to Other Backward Class (OBC) and he is misleading people by calling himself an OBC.

In a brief speech here on the third and final day of the ‘Bharat Jodo Nyaya Yatra’ in Odisha, Rahul said Modi was born in a family which falls in the general caste category.

‘Rahul is misleading people about the caste of the Prime Minister’
At the same time, BJP is retaliating after Rahul Gandhi’s claim. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Purnesh Modi in Gujarat accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of misleading people about the caste of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Purnesh said the Teli community, to which the Prime Minister belongs, was given Other Backward Class (OBC) status when the Congress was in power in the state.

The MLA alleged that Gandhi has once again started spreading lies and has resorted to appeasement politics.

The BJP MLA told reporters here, “When the entire country is united under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, Rahul Gandhi has once again started spreading lies and has resorted to vote bank politics and appeasement…Against such politics, The Prime Minister has given the mantra of upliftment of the poor, youth, women and farmers.”

PM Modi had called himself the biggest OBC
It is noteworthy that PM Modi had described himself as the biggest OBC in Parliament a few days ago. He also accused the Congress of hypocrisy and double standards in dealing with backward class leaders.

While replying to the motion of thanks on the President’s address in the Lok Sabha, PM Modi had said that the Congress party and the UPA government did not do justice to the OBCs.

Just a few days ago, Karpoori Thakur ji was honored with Bharat Ratna. When he became the CM of Bihar in 1970, what did he not do to destabilize his government? Congress cannot tolerate OBCs.

They keep counting how many OBCs there are in the government. Can’t you (Congress) see the biggest OBC here (pointing towards himself)?” At the same time, in the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, Rahul Gandhi also alleged on Thursday that the Prime Minister does not even shake hands with people belonging to OBCs, but hugs billionaires.
