You do that, it’s not our business; A befitting reply to Trudeau on interference in Canadian elections…

Canada has been spewing venom against India for many days. Canada had alleged that India was interfering in its elections.

Rejecting these allegations of Canada, India has given a befitting reply.

India said in strong words that it is not us but Canada that is interfering in our internal affairs.

In a report, Canada described India as a foreign threat, Canada alleged that India could interfere in their elections.

Responding to this, India said that it has never been India’s policy to interfere in the democratic process of other countries.

The Foreign Ministry said, “We have seen media reports about a commission investigating foreign interference… We strongly reject such baseless allegations of Indian interference in Canadian elections. It is not India’s policy to interfere in the democratic process of other countries.”

India’s befitting reply to Canada
“In fact, it is quite the opposite,” External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal told reporters today. It is Canada that is interfering in our internal affairs. We have been regularly raising questions with them regarding this issue. “We continue to call on Canada to take effective steps to address our core concerns.”

Canada has described India as a ‘foreign threat’ and said New Delhi could potentially interfere in its elections. According to the report of Global News, this allegation has been made by the Canadian Security Intelligence Service in its intelligence report. Now India has reacted to these allegations.

Canada had told India a foreign threat
In September last year, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau had alleged in the Canadian Parliament that there was concrete evidence of India’s alleged involvement and role in the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, but when India demanded Canada to provide evidence for those allegations. So Canada kept looking left and right.

India had rejected all Canada’s allegations. After this episode, relations between the two countries continued to deteriorate. The claims by Canadian security intelligence are the latest in a series of allegations and counter-allegations launched by Justin Trudeau.

According to Global News, the October 2022 intelligence report titled ‘Foreign Interference and Elections: A National Security Assessment’ describes India as a ‘threat’ and warns that foreign interference is undermining Canada’s democracy .

The report said foreign interference differs from traditional diplomacy because it uses secrecy and deception to influence public narratives and policy-making.

This is the first time Canada has accused India of election interference, a charge already faced by China and Russia. In February last year, the Minister for Democratic Institutions’ Briefing on Foreign Interference described China as “by far the most significant threat”.

“We know that the PRC tried to covertly and deceptively influence the 2019 and 2021 federal elections,” the report said, referring to the People’s Republic of China.
