Former Maharashtra minister and famous in Bollywood circles Baba Siddiqui joined Ajit Pawar’s NCP on Saturday after leaving Congress.

Earlier on February 8, Baba Siddiqui had ended his 48-year-old relationship with Congress.

It was no secret that Baba Siddiqui was going to join Ajit Pawar faction of NCP. But no announcement was made in this regard before the official joining on Saturday.

Baba Siddiqui’s association with Ajit Pawar will benefit BJP in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Let us tell you that the Election Commission has considered Ajit Pawar faction as the real NCP.

Ajit Pawar left Sharad Pawar’s NCP last year and joined the Shinde faction’s Shiv Sena and BJP coalition government.

Baba Siddiqui has posted on social media site X regarding joining NCP. He wrote that I had joined the Congress Party as a young teenager.

It has been a wonderful journey of 48 years. Today I have resigned from the primary membership of Congress with immediate effect. He further wrote that there is a lot that I want to say, but many things remain unsaid.

Thanks to all those who were my companions during this journey. Baba Siddiqui leaving the party before the upcoming Lok Sabha elections is a double blow for the Congress.

A few days ago, former minister Milind Deora had also left Congress. Deora had joined the Shinde faction after talks over seat sharing between the Uddhav Sena and Congress deteriorated.

Baba Siddiqui was an MLA for three consecutive terms in 1999, 2004 and 2009 and also served as Minister of State for Food and Civil Supplies, Labor and FDA (2004–08).

Earlier, he had also served as a municipal councilor for two consecutive terms (1992-1997).

He has also served as the President and Senior Vice President of the Parliamentary Board of Mumbai Regional Congress Committee and Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee.
