People on the streets over election rigging, army fears rebellion; Game of Thrones exciting in Pakistan…

Politics has heated up amid the ongoing counting of votes for the general elections in Pakistan.

Imran Khan’s PTI, who is in jail amid tension with the army, has claimed to form the government. Besides, allegations of vote rigging have also been made in the February 8 elections.

Leaders and workers are taking to the streets regarding this and the fear of rebellion is increasing. According to reports, PTI’s website has been disrupted and their Google Drive has also been attacked.

PTI-backed candidates are demanding that Imran Khan-appointed President Arif Alvi invite them to form the government. Apart from this, they are also protesting against the current caretaker government and the army.

According to the report, the independent candidates who lost the elections have been instructed to lodge FIRs against the returning officers. The officials are accused of giving them wrong forms.

In this context, the victory of PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif and his daughter in the National Assembly elections has been challenged in the Lahore High Court.

It was alleged that the Election Commission did not follow the correct procedure. Amidst all this, talks are going on between Pakistan Peoples Party (PPM) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).

It is being said that PPP’s Asif Ali Zardari is keen to form the government without Nawaz. He is advocating making PML-N Chief’s younger brother Shahbaz the leader, but has demanded the post of President for himself.

Army stressed on forming coalition government
Seeing no party getting a clear majority and the situation worsening, Army Chief General Asim Munir has taken a big initiative. He has supported former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s call to form a coalition government in the country.

Caretaker Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar said he hoped to form a coalition government in the country.

“There should be a unified government of all democratic forces aligned towards the national cause, which will well represent the diverse polity and pluralism of Pakistan,” the statement quoted General Munir as saying. He said that elections and democracy are means to serve the people of Pakistan.

Atmosphere heated up with Imran Khan’s claim of victory
In fact, the military is considered quite powerful in Pakistan having ruled for more than half of the last 75 years.

“The progressive nation of 25 crore people needs handing over and healing to steady hands to move ahead from the politics of anarchy and polarization,” the statement said.

Elections are not a contest of victory and defeat, but an exercise in determining the mandate. Meanwhile, Imran Khan claimed victory in the general elections by sending audio video messages with the help of AI.

Khan said he had strong faith that people would come out to vote and praised his supporters for reposing their trust by voting in large numbers. After this, PTI supporters are even more excited and are protesting against the allegations of election rigging.
