When he stepped into Gujarat Assembly for the first time, PM Modi suddenly remembered something from 2002…

Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch 11 development projects worth more than Rs 4000 crore in the state during his visit to Gujarat. It also includes Sudarshan Setu connecting Dwarka and Bet Dwarka. AIIMS is also to be inaugurated in Rajkot.

Earlier on Saturday, PM Modi shared a 22-year-old video on social media, when he entered Gujarat Assembly for the first time as Rajkot MLA.

PM Narendra Modi posted an old video on Saturday and wrote, “Rajkot will always have a special place in my heart. It was the people of this city who believed in me and gave me the first electoral victory.

Since then I have always worked to do justice to the aspirations of the public. It is also a pleasant coincidence that today and tomorrow I will be in Gujarat and a program is being organized in Rajkot, from where 5 AIIMS will be dedicated to the country.

In 2002, on 24 February, PM Modi became a member of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly for the first time by winning his first election from Rajkot.

He was sworn in as Chief Minister of Gujarat in October 2001 and was required to become a member of the Legislative Assembly within six months to continue in office.

Rajkot by-election gave him a chance to win. The throwback video was shared by Modi Archive.

The video is a collection of clips and images of him filing his nomination, campaigning and giving speeches in Rajkot.

Sudarshan Bridge inaugurated today
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated India’s longest cable-stayed bridge in Dwarka, Gujarat. ‘Sudarshan Setu’ connecting Okha and Bayt Dwarka islands has been constructed at a cost of Rs 979 crore.

PM Modi, while laying the foundation stone of the 2.3 km long bridge in October 2017, had said that it would serve as a link between the old and new Dwarka. “The four-lane 27.20 meter wide bridge has 2.50 meter wide footpaths on both sides,” an official release said.

Sudarshan Setu has a footpath decorated with verses from the Bhagavad Gita and pictures of Lord Krishna on both sides.
