Shehbaz Sharif was sworn in as Prime Minister of Pakistan for the second time on Monday.
As soon as she became PM, Shahbaz Sharif in his first speech reiterated his resolve regarding the ongoing CPEC project with China. Shahbaz’s speech has made China happy.
It said it looked forward to deepening its “evergreen” strategic ties with Pakistan and upgrading the US$60 billion China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said in a press conference here that China heartily congratulates Sharif on being elected as the Prime Minister of Pakistan.
President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Li Qiang had sent congratulatory messages to Sharif on Sunday soon after his election as Prime Minister.
Mao said China highly appreciates Prime Minister Sharif’s positive statements on Pakistan-China relations and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.
He said, “We look forward to working with Pakistan to carry forward our traditional friendship, advance exchanges and cooperation in all fields, upgrade CPEC, and deepen the China-Pakistan evergreen strategic cooperative partnership.” Are ready.”
