The Government of India has implemented the Citizenship Amendment Act, due to which the oppressed minorities from neighboring countries who came to India before December 2014 will be able to get citizenship.
Under this rule, refugees coming from Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan will be able to become citizens of India. This law is expected to benefit millions of people who have been living in India for years but do not have any rights.
However, these people will not get this citizenship merely by applying. There is a fixed procedure for this, which has to be followed.
The most important thing in this is security check. Only after his report the applicants will be able to get Indian citizenship. According to the order issued by the Home Ministry, a powerful committee will be formed to examine the applications.
The detailed order said, ‘The empowered committee can inquire into the applications. She may ask for a report on the application. One of these will also be security clearance.
The applications will be taken forward only when approval is received from the security agencies. Once the applications are received, the clearance of the security agencies will also be updated on the portal.
According to the rules of CAA, applications for citizenship will be made at the state and union territory level. These applications will also be reviewed by the Home Ministry and security agency.
Under the Citizenship Amendment Act, 2019, a provision has been made to give Indian citizenship to those people who came to India seeking refuge after being persecuted from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan.
Those people of Hindu, Jain, Buddhist and Sikh sects who came to India due to persecution will be able to apply under this. According to the government, India is the real refuge for people of Hindu, Jain, Buddhist and Sikh religions. In such a situation, if they are harassed anywhere in the world, they will move to India only.
In such a situation, India should give them asylum. This law has been made for this very purpose.
Let us tell you that in many states including Delhi, Rajasthan, UP, a large number of people who have been victims of persecution from three neighboring countries have settled. Not only this, a large number of these people are Hindus from Dalit community. In such a situation, a large section of the society is welcoming the decision to grant them shelter.
