Al Jazeera’s Palestinian cameraman Samir Abu Dakka has been killed in an Israeli attack.

On behalf of the TV network, its chief correspondent in Gaza, Wael Dahdouh, has been injured. Both of them had gone to a school in the south of Gaza for reporting on Friday.

Actually, a drone was fired from Israel in the morning on Farhana School located in Khan Yunis. Abu Dakka and Dahdouh had reached here in connection with the news.

According to the TV network, while they were reporting from the scene, an Israeli drone carried out a second attack on the school.

Wael Dahdouh suffered serious injuries to his arm and shoulder. He told Al Jazeera from his hospital bed that he was bleeding but managed to escape from the school.

During this time, ambulance workers were found who took him to the hospital. “I told the ambulance team to search for Abu Dakka,” Dahdouh said.

On this he told me that it was very risky but promised that another ambulance would come for him. The reporter said that the last time I saw Abu Dakka, he was bleeding and lying on the ground. He was calling loudly for help.

Al Jazeera reported that an ambulance tried to reach the school to rescue the cameraman, but had to turn back because the road was covered with debris from collapsed houses.

In such a situation, it was not possible to move forward from there. “Abu Dakka’s body continued to bleed for several hours,” the TV network’s statement said.

By the time the civil defense team reached him, he had died. Meanwhile, Dahdouh said that the network’s team was accompanying civil defense rescue workers on a mission to evacuate after the bombing.
