Politics is intense in the country regarding businessman Gautam Adani. In America, he has been accused of paying a huge bribe to get the contract and finance of a project. The opposition is cornering the central government regarding this. Meanwhile, recently BJP had said that Adani has donated Rs 100 crore to the Telangana government. On this, now Telangana CM Revanth Reddy has rejected Rs 100 crore given by Adani to Telangana Skill University.
Bribe of Rs 2100 crore given to Indian officials
According to media reports, Adani paid a bribe of Rs 2100 crore to Indian officials to get solar energy related projects and contracts for his company in America. The allegation is also that he hid this from the investors of those American banks. American prosecutors claim that other officials of the company had agreed to pay money to Indian officials to get the contract.
Warrant issued against Adani and 7 others
In this case, an American court has issued a warrant against 7 people including Adani. However, there is a catch in this action of America. American SEC cannot summon Adani directly. For this he will have to give notice through diplomatic channels. The SEC (US Securities and Exchange Commission) does not have the authority to summon a foreign national directly.
SEC sought its opinion
SEC wants Adani to present his side on bribery allegations. In this case, he will have to send summons through the Indian Embassy in America. This summons is part of the SEC’s legal document filed in New York court. It will take some time to reach Adani. Let us tell you that the trial against 7 more people including Adani and his nephew has started in a New York court.
