Agreement on ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel remained elusive

Beirut. Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdullah Bou Habib revealed that a 21-day ceasefire had been agreed between the two sides just days before Israeli air strikes killed Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah. This important information has come to light when tensions between Lebanon and Israel have increased and many international leaders are striving for lasting peace.
Habib said the ceasefire was discussed on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in September, where US President Joe Biden, French President Emmanuel Macron and other allies called for a temporary ceasefire. “We were in complete agreement,” he said. Lebanon agreed to a ceasefire, but it also required consultation with Hezbollah.
Habib said, Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri discussed the matter with Hezbollah, and we proceeded to inform the Americans and the French. Meanwhile, senior White House adviser Amos Hochstein was to be sent to Lebanon to negotiate a ceasefire agreement. According to Habib, Hochstein reported that Netanyahu agreed to the deal, and only then was consent obtained from Hezbollah.
However, even after this information came to light, Israeli air strikes continued, due to which tension in the area has increased. From this it has become clear that the current situation has become a matter of concern at the international level.
