New Delhi . Air Marshal Amar Preet Singh will be the next Chief of the Air Force. Air Marshal Amar Preet Singh is currently serving as the Vice Chief of the Air Force. He will take over as Air Chief Marshal as the next Air Force Chief from the afternoon of 30 September 2024. The current Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal Vivek Ram Choudhary is retiring on 30 September 2024.

Air Marshal Amar Preet Singh was born on 27 October 1964. He was commissioned into the fighter pilot stream of the Indian Air Force in December 1984. During his long and distinguished service of nearly 40 years, he has held various command, staff, instructional appointments. He has handled important assignments for the Air Force abroad.
Over 5,000 hours of flying experience
Air Marshal Amar Preet Singh is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Defence Services Staff College and National Defence College. He is a qualified flying instructor and an outstanding pilot. He has over 5,000 hours of flying experience on fixed and rotary wing aircraft.
Has commanded an operational fighter squadron and a frontline air base
During his career, Air Marshal Amar Preet Singh has commanded operational fighter squadrons and frontline air bases. As a pilot, he led the MiG-29 upgrade project management team in Moscow, Russia. He was also Project Director (Flight Test) at the National Flight Test Centre.
He was the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Central Air Command
He was entrusted with the task of flight testing the Light Combat Aircraft Tejas. He has served in important positions as Air Defense Commander in South Western Air Command and Senior Air Staff Officer in Eastern Air Command. Before taking over as Air Vice Chief, he was the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Central Air Command.
