The Government of India has implemented the law to grant citizenship to minorities of three neighboring countries in a fast track manner.
Opposition parties are opposing the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and calling it against the basic concept of the Constitution.
Now America has also expressed concern about this law and said that it will keep an eye on the process of its implementation.
Issuing a statement on Thursday, America said that it is also concerned about CAA. Foreign Affairs spokesman Matthew Miller said, freedom of all religions and equal treatment of all are fundamental democratic principles.

After this this statement has come from the Biden administration. If we talk about Pakistan, Pakistan is also angry about this. Pakistan says that India is trying to defame it through this law. The Government of India has clarified that this law will not affect anyone’s citizenship. This has nothing to do with the citizenship of Muslims living in India.
Pakistan has called this law discriminatory. Pakistan Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zahra Baloch said that this law is going to divide people. Apart from this, this law creates the impression that minorities are oppressed in Muslim countries. This law is against international rules.
Let us tell you that the Citizenship Amendment Bill was first introduced in the Lok Sabha in 2016. This bill got stuck in Rajya Sabha. After this it was sent to the parliamentary committee. After the formation of the BJP government at the Center in 2019, it was again introduced in the Lok Sabha. This time it was passed in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha houses. This law became law on January 10, 2020, although it was not implemented. Under this, Indian citizenship will be given to Buddhist, Hindu, Sikh, Jain, Christian and Parsi refugees who came from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan till 31 December 2014.
Those who oppose this law call it an anti-Muslim law. He says that everyone should be treated equally in granting citizenship and Muslim refugees should also be given citizenship. Let us tell you that to get Indian citizenship, the refugee must stay here for at least 11 years. People covered under this law will get citizenship even after staying for 6 years.
