Amidst the tension, India showed its strength at a distance of 1200KM from Maldives, China’s enemy also supported…

The coast guards of India and Japan conducted joint exercises off the coast of Chennai on Friday.

Under this exercise, immediate steps were taken to rescue the crew of the ship in distress. In the joint exercise code named ‘Sahyog Kaijin’ in the Bay of Bengal, advanced equipped ICGS Shaurya and JCGS Yashima took action to rescue the crew of MT Matsyadrishti and MV Anveshika.

Immediately after receiving information about the distress, fast patrol ships ICGS Annie Besant and ICGS Rani Abbakka proceeded to launch rescue operations. Before the ships arrived, two Dornier aircraft flew over the sea to help the rescue ships reach the exact destination.

Coast Guard ships used their firefighting equipment to extinguish the flames after the crew evacuated for medical emergencies as part of the exercise.

The joint exercise was reviewed by Inspector General Donny Michael, Commander, Coast Guard Area (East).

Captain Yuichi Motoyama, Commanding Officer of JCGS Yashima, met with the IG to strengthen bilateral cooperation by sharing expertise and discussing best practices.

The initiative is linked to the Memorandum of Cooperation signed in 2006 for joint training, professional exchange and cultural dialogue between the coast guards of the two countries. The air distance between Chennai and Male is about 1200 kilometers.

Let us tell you that these days diplomatic relations between India and Maldives are not cordial. After Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Lakshadweep, three ministers of Maldives had made objectionable remarks. However, the Muizzu government there removed those ministers but the ruckus did not calm down.

Now Indian tourists have started a campaign to boycott Maldives. On the other hand, the President of Maldives has requested China to send tourists.

On his first visit to Beijing, Muizzu has signed 20 important issues with the Chinese President. Most of these are maritime economy based agreements.
