Due to the consecration of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya, public sector banks, insurance companies, financial institutions and regional rural banks will remain closed for half a day on January 22.
Earlier in the day, the Department of Personnel and Training had issued an order regarding central institutions and central industrial establishments.
A Finance Ministry notification on Thursday said the DoPT order will also apply to public sector financial institutions and RRBs.
The consecration ceremony of the new idol of Ram Lala in the sanctum sanctorum of Ram temple is scheduled for Monday. More than six thousand people from across the country including PM Modi will be present in this ceremony.
Earlier on January 22, it was announced to close all the central government offices across the country for half a day.
This information was given in an order of the Ministry of Personnel. The ministry said in an order issued to all ministries/departments of the central government, “The consecration ceremony of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya will be celebrated all over India on January 22, 2024. “To enable employees to participate in this celebration, it has been decided that all Central Government offices, Central Institutions and Central Industrial Establishments across India will remain closed for half a day till 2.30 pm on 22 January 2024.”
When contacted, Union Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh told PTI that this decision has been taken in view of the tremendous enthusiasm of the people.
He said, “There was a lot of demand from the public across the country regarding this. The decision to close central government offices for half a day on January 22 has been taken keeping in mind the public sentiments.”
