Following withdrawal of troops from Demchok and resumption of patrolling along the India-China border LAC, the Indian Army today successfully completed patrolling at one of the key patrolling points in Depsang.
This is being considered as another positive step towards maintaining peace on LAC.
In this matter, China on Monday said that the implementation of the agreement with India to withdraw troops in eastern Ladakh is going on “smoothly at this time”, and it has also resumed patrolling at the two confrontation points in Depsang and Demchok. Did not comment about.
Indian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal told the media in New Delhi on Saturday that the Indian Army has started verification patrolling in Depsang, the second friction point in eastern Ladakh.
Patrolling had begun in Demchok on Friday, a day after Indian and Chinese troops withdrew from two friction points in eastern Ladakh.
On the other hand, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said in response to a question from reporters, “Chinese and Indian troops are implementing the solution reached by both sides on issues related to the border area.” It is continuing smoothly at this time.”
However, he did not answer specific questions related to Indian troops starting patrolling in the two areas.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri had said in Delhi on October 21 that after several weeks of talks, an agreement has been finalized between India and China which will resolve the issues that arose in 2020.
Under the agreement, patrolling and disengagement of troops along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh was agreed upon, which was considered a major breakthrough in ending the standoff that has continued for more than four years.
It is noteworthy that relations between the two Asian powers had deteriorated after the fierce clash in Galwan Valley in June 2020.
