Bhopal. The appointments of 45 constables recruited 12 years ago in the Transport Department of Madhya Pradesh have been cancelled. On the orders of the Supreme Court, the state’s Transport Secretary CB Chakraborty issued the order on September 19, which came out today. Congress has demanded the resignation of the then CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan and the then Transport Minister Jagdish Devda in the case. Transport constables were recruited in the year 2012. In this recruitment process, male candidates were appointed on the posts reserved for women. Himadri Raje had filed a petition in the Gwalior Bench of the High Court in 2013 regarding the matter. The court, while giving its verdict in 2014, considered the appointments of male constables illegal. This decision was challenged by the Madhya Pradesh government in the Supreme Court.
The Supreme Court upheld the High Court’s decision and ordered the cancellation of these appointments. When the government did not take any action on this, Himadri Raje filed a contempt petition in the Supreme Court.
Recruitment examination was held for 198 posts
Congress leader KK Mishra released a video on Wednesday and said that about 48 FIRs were registered in different cases of Vyapam. The last FIR was registered against 39 candidates under our pressure. Violating the reservation rules, the then Transport Ministry had also issued a letter to the selected transport constables not to conduct their physical test. Mishra said that on 24 May 2012, an advertisement was published in newspapers for the recruitment of 198 transport constables. The examination was held on 12 August 2012. 1 lakh 47 thousand candidates participated in it. In this, 332 constables were selected without the approval of the competent authority. Wrongly selected candidates were given appointments in 2013 on the orders of the then Transport Commissioner Sanjay Chaudhary. After pressure from the Congress, an FIR was registered against 39 accused in Bhopal’s STF police station on 14 October 2014. Many revelations were made in the investigation. Even the temporary addresses of many candidates were found to be wrong. Fearing that the case would be exposed, 17 candidates did not join despite receiving the appointment orders. Former Union Minister and then state Congress president Arun Yadav and then chief spokesperson KK Mishra had also submitted documents related to the allegations to the investigating agencies – STF, SIT and CBI.
