After Sheikh Hasina abdicated the throne, atrocities against Hindus have increased in Bangladesh.
After Pakistan, Bangladesh has become the second country where Hindus are being tortured. Hindu festivals and temples are being targeted in the neighboring country.
The crown of Goddess Kali, gifted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the Jeshoreshwari temple in Satkhira, Bangladesh, has been stolen, according to a report.
According to Bangladeshi newspaper The Daily Star, the silver and gold-plated crown was stolen on Thursday afternoon.
The theft took place when the temple priests had gone home after the day’s worship. The sanitation workers were the first to get information about the theft. He noticed that the crown was missing from the goddess’s head.
Let us tell you that Prime Minister Modi had presented this crown to Jeshoreshwari Temple during his visit to Bangladesh in March 2021.
Jyoti Chattopadhyay, a member of the family that has looked after the temple for generations, told Bangladeshi media that the crown was made of silver and plated with gold.
The stolen crown holds cultural and religious significance for devotees. In Hindu mythology, Jeshoreshwari Temple is considered one of the 51 Shaktipeeths spread across India and neighboring countries.
It is believed that this temple located in Ishwaripur of Satkhira was built by a Brahmin named Anari in the second half of the 12th century.
He built a temple with 100 doors for Jashoreshwari Peeth. Later, it was renovated by Lakshman Sen in the 13th century and King Pratapaditya rebuilt the temple in the 16th century.
During his visit, PM Modi had said that India would build a multipurpose community hall at the temple.
He said that it should be useful for social, religious and educational events for the local people. Also, it will serve as shelter for everyone during disasters like cyclones.
