Republican White House candidate and former US President Donald Trump said on Friday that Israel should first retaliate by blowing up Iran’s nuclear sites.
The former president, speaking at a rally in North Carolina, referenced a question asked of President Joe Biden this week about the possibility of Israel targeting Iran’s nuclear program.
Trump said, “They asked him, what do you think about Iran? Would you attack Iran? “Unless they attack with nuclear weapons,” he said. This is what you want to end, isn’t it?”
Let us tell you that on Wednesday Biden was asked whether he would support an attack on Iranian nuclear sites and the US President told reporters: “I don’t have an answer to that.”
Trump said on Friday, “I think he is wrong. Isn’t that what you should do? “I mean, the biggest risk to us is nuclear weapons.”
Trump said, “When they asked him this question, the answer should have been to drop the nuclear bomb first and worry about the rest later.” If they’re going to do it, they’re going to do it. But we will find out what their plan is.”
On Wednesday, Joe Biden voiced his opposition to such attacks against Iran’s nuclear power, in response to the firing of nearly 200 Iranian missiles toward Israel.
“We will discuss with the Israelis what they are going to do,” he said. He said all G7 members agree that Israel has the right to respond, but they should respond proportionately.
Trump, who is locked in a presidential election battle with Democratic nominee and US Vice President Kamala Harris, has talked little about the recent rise in tensions in the Middle East.
He issued a scathing statement this week blaming Biden and Harris for the crisis.
