Assistant professor of Jalandhar NIT has been dismissed on charges of sexual harassment of girl students.
Two girl students of Dr. BR Ambedkar National Institute of Technology had filed an allegation of sexual harassment against the professor in the police women’s cell.
The police was taking action in this case but the internal team of NIT also investigated and the accused assistant professor was found guilty. Now the NIT administration has dismissed the assistant professor.
Giving information about the matter, NIT Director Vinod Kumar Kannaujia said that a complaint was lodged in the women’s department of the institute.
This was investigated by the Internal Women Harassment Committee. After all the investigation, based on their report, we recommended action to the Board of Governance. An in-depth investigation was conducted and then action was taken.
The complaint came 15 days ago
Director Kannaujiya said that the girl had given a complaint to the women’s cell of the institute 15 days ago. After receiving the complaint, it takes some time to form a committee and investigate, that is why the whole process took so much time.
We heard statements from both sides, took all the facts from the girl. The above action was taken after investigating all the facts. The complaint was made by two girl students.
Both the girls were MBA students, the accused professor is also said to be from the MBA department. After receiving the complaint, we have now dismissed the said professor. The director said that it would be better if nothing is said about what the accused assistant professor has done to the girl students. If he commits such a mistake in the future, he will not be spared.
Rape attempt in return for passing the paper
According to the student, the professor tried to rape her on Friday afternoon and told her that he would get her to pass the paper.
Seeing the professor’s intentions, she immediately gathered her fellow students. This created an uproar and the matter was immediately reported to the institute. The police is also investigating the background of the assistant professor.
Not only the students doing MBA but also the students doing PhD because of the assistant professor are troubled by the accused assistant professor.
