Attempt to sell land of Lord Jagannath, Odisha government strict

A case of encroachment on Lord Jagannath’s land and an attempt to sell it has come to light in Puri, Odisha. After coming to know about this, the government said that it will investigate and take action against such people. In fact, Shri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) lodged a complaint at Baseli Sahi police station on Saturday that an attempt is being made to sell the land of Lord Jagannath under Matitota Mauza in Puri.

Law Minister ordered action
Speaking to media persons here on Sunday, Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan said, we will take strict action against all those involved in this act. If any plot has been sold to any person, we will take strict action against all those who transferred the land, including the seller, buyer, sub-registrar. He assured that the government will not tolerate unauthorized sale of even an inch of land of Lord Jagannath under any circumstances.

The temple has 60.42 acres of land
Let us tell you that Jagannath Temple in Puri has about 60,426 acres of land spread across 24 districts of Odisha, apart from this there is also 395 acres of land outside Odisha. According to the temple administration, the disputed property, registered under account number 38, consists of 109 plots. These are owned by the temple.
