He said Ankara heard from various channels that the Houthis were carrying out a very successful defense against the US and Britain.
Iran was looking at how it could protect itself against whatever was happening, he said.

America and Britain’s army attacked Houthi rebels
Earlier, US and British forces on Thursday bombed more than a dozen sites used by Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen.
These include areas for storing equipment, air defense systems and weapons storage.
US President Joe Biden said the strikes were aimed at making it clear that the US and its allies ‘will not tolerate’ attacks by the terrorist group in the Red Sea. Biden said that America and its allies have taken this step after careful consideration.

At the same time, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak says that the joint air strike with the US against the bases of Houthi rebels in Yemen was necessary for self-defense.
This is the first US-led strike against the Houthis, who have been targeting international shipping in the Red Sea since November 2023.
Sunak accused the Iran-backed group of threatening British ships. The US Air Force said more than 60 targets were struck in 16 locations used by the Houthis in Yemen.
“Despite repeated warnings from the international community, the Houthis have continued to carry out attacks in the Red Sea, including attacks on British and US warships this week,” Sunak said.
