Dhaka. There has been continuous turmoil in Bangladesh since the coup. Three months after former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina took refuge in Bangladesh, her party Awami League is going to hold a massive protest against the current interim government in Dhaka today, in view of which the interim Yunus government has taken the army on the streets. Meanwhile, the police has taken strict action against Awami League workers and supporters in Dhaka. Bangladesh Army has arrested hundreds of activists ahead of their protest today.
Party supporters and underground leaders will take to the streets in Gulistan, Zero Point, Noor Hussain Square areas of Dhaka. The protest has been called by the Awami League for falsely implicating its leaders, banning the student wing and harassing AL workers.
191 army units deployed
To stop the gathering and protests of Awami League, Bangladesh Army, Police and students of schools, colleges and universities have gathered in these areas in large numbers. BNP and Jamaat had announced that they would not allow Awami League to protest. Dhaka Police has not given them permission to organize the protest rally. 191 contingents of BGB have been deployed across the country.
