Before the BRICS summit, the heads of representative countries posed for a group photo, Modi-Jinping-Putin were seen together on the stage.

BRICS Summit (Russia): BRICS summit is being organized in Kazan, Russia. Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Kazan Republic of Russia on Tuesday to attend this summit. Before the start of the BRICS summit, leaders of all member countries took part in a group photo session. In the group photo, PM Modi was standing on one side of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping was standing on the other side. After getting the photo clicked, PM Modi was seen talking to UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed the expansion of BRICS in his address during the BRICS summit. He said that in the meeting the group will discuss its expansion, while also keeping in mind the need to maintain efficiency. Putin said that he wishes that more than 30 countries should become part of this group.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s bilateral meeting with Xi Jinping

Apart from the BRICS summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also hold a bilateral meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Wednesday. India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Mistry has confirmed the meeting between the two leaders. Bilateral talks will take place between the two leaders after about five years. Earlier on Tuesday, President Putin hosted a concert and dinner for the heads of the BRICS delegation. During this, PM Modi, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping were seen together. This will be the first time after almost a year that PM Modi and Jinping will be together on a platform. Earlier, the two leaders had met during the BRICS summit in South Africa in August 2023.

BRICS includes Brazil, Russia, India, China and South America. Recently Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates have become members of BRICS. With the increased membership, BRICS has become an organization representing 45% of the world’s population and 28% of the economy.
